Board of Directors

Roseau Electric Cooperative is owned by its members.

About the Board

Roseau Electric Cooperative is organized as a cooperative and is owned by its members. Unlike many areas of government, every year is an election year for your member-owned electric cooperative. The membership gets to experience democracy in action and elects a board of directors to represent them in the operation of the cooperative. The board selects a chairman to lead the elected directors.

The board hires a general manager to carry out the daily operations of the cooperative. The board is comprised of nine member-directors, one from each director district.

Directors are elected to three-year terms according to the provisions in the bylaws.
Regularly scheduled board meetings are held in Roseau at the cooperative office starting at 9 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

Red Flag Rules

A federal law commonly called “Red Flag Rules” mandates that utilities take steps to verify consumer identity for certain account requests. The purpose of the law is to prevent identity theft. Specifically this means you will be required to state your name and a PIN number, or show government-issued ID for some requests such as: new service/change of service requests, conservation loans, reconnections and others. These procedures will help protect your identity. For more information about the law, please call 1-888-847-8840 or 218-463-1543.
